'Un-taboo'

In the days of old, to talk about menses; one will whisper. If there is a male around, all will hush up.

Today, Dan's classmate had her first menses experience in school. She was terrified and cried. Later; the teacher explained to the whole class what it was all about.

I remembered when I first heard of it; I was probably in Primary 5 or 6 and it was explained to us in very very hushed tone (we were all girls). I remembered hanging my head in embarrassment.

When I was in Form 4 or 5; we learnt it in Biology class. I was in a coed school then. Again, I almost died of embarrassment.

Today, children are so open on such topics. Just don't sense the 'taboo-ness' of it when they talk about it.

How the times have changed.

it's a natural thing mah, not something to be ashamed about. in fact i think if boys learnt about it too they would know how to cope with it much better later in life. then their wives would not have to wallop them so much during that time of the month..... tee hee hee
