Whose in charge?

I found this immunisation card. Don't remember seeing it in the year 2004. Now I know why. The card never reached my hands. The little brother who must be about 5 signed the card on our behalf!!!!

a shameful state

We decided to be tourists in KL this holiday. After visiting the book fair, we went to all the various malls at Bukit Bintang....starting with KLCC, Pavilion, Ferenheit and Lot 10. All these places end up looking the same after a while.

Later in the evening, after the rain had subsided, we drove to the National Monument. It was already closed but we managed to get in and took some pictures. The place is beautiful and well maintained. Glad the kids are able to see this place for themselves and not just see it in their books.

Then we went in search of the Lake Garden or Taman Tasik Perdana. What a disappointment when we reached there. The place was in shambles. Unkept, dirty, dark.....

This is a swamp...lots of lotus plants but it looks a mess. The tables are broken and rotten. I wouldn't want to sit on any of them.
This is a leaking tap. Not sure how long the water has been running. No wonder there is water shortage in Selangor. Let every park in Malaysia has a leaking tap and soon the reservoirs will run dry. Wonder how difficult it is to fix a leaking tap. What are the workers doing?
Looks like a map....it's just the pathway tiles. Nice though dirty.

Well, the trip to the Lake Garden was definitely a sad trip. Seremban Lake Garden is so many times more beautiful and clean. I wouldn't recommend this as a tourist attraction at all. Such a shameful state it is in.

wastage

I am coordinating the patriotic month 'keceriaan' competition this year. We planned to have it extended to all panels instead of just keeping it between the History and Sivics panel. So different locations of the school are assigned to different panels to decorate.

As the coordinator, I also have to coordinate the purchases of flags, buntings etc etc so the clerk will not have invoices flying in from every corner. Decorating the different locations seems pretty simple to the various panels as all they need to do is buy a variety of flags etc and hang them up. That's when the orders come in and I get real busy calling the supplier, handling the purchases and distributing them. An the orders are not small!!!!

The school is now over-decorated with big small large medium flags, buntings .... hanging from the wall, the trees, the fences etc. Just last night, I did my paperwork to claim for the purchases and how much have it total up to??? RM4901!!!

That's not the end yet. Next week, some of us will be working on making bunga raya from cloth/plastic and 20x8 flag from coconut shells and 250ml boxes. I've not included the expenses incurred here yet.

How much closer are we to instilling the patriotic spirit in the students? What is the objective of this whole idea?? What am I doing and why am I doing this? Under orders to win the competition!!!! So as an obedient worker, saya mengikut perintah and I am all out to do my best to win win win!!!!

tale of a tiny broken tooth

I woke up this morning with my gum swollen and throbbing. Touched the tooth and it was shaking. By the time I reached school, my left head was heavy and I was feeling really lousy.

It was an extremely busy day. Most of the stress is not even from teaching but from the preparation for the Patriotic Month. I'm under great pressure buying flags etc; spending thousands of ringgit...and now the next project is making hibiscus and flags from recycled items.

Work was piling up but I had to get to the dentist and Eric was the only dentist I could think of. Dan and I run to him every time we have tooth problem.

He did two x-rays. The gum and tooth was bad and I think he was surprised that I came to him this late when the problem was this serious. (I hate going to doctors.)

There was something in my gum. Asked if I remembered breaking any tooth in the past. Not that I am aware of. So he hunted the tooth which was embedded in the gum and managed to get it out. Then he stitched it up. I need to care for my shaky tooth as it might have to be extracted if the gum doesn't heal well.

Well, seemed pretty simple but it wasn't an easy surgery. Must give the dentist credit for his skill and expertise. There is not much bleeding swelling. Now ...about ten hours after the surgery, I feel slight throbbing...the only discomfort thus far.

I was given two days mc but I had to go back to school....not even to teach but to complete my paper work on the patriotic project.  I needed approval from the big bosses and inform the other teachers so that work can get started.

I paid RM150 for the whole procedure. Later Justine phoned to check on me. She said normally the procedure costs RM1500, I was only charged for the needles etc. Oh boy......

Well, a big thanks to the best dentist I've ever known...Eric Ting.

Now how did the broken tooth happen? I really have no idea. My conclusion is...it must have happened when I was young and ignorant. Why did it act up 30 years later? I must be under great stress that my body reacted this way!!!!
