It all started when Win gave me a one night stay voucher for two persons at Sari Pacifica...Redang/Sibu Island/Lang Tengah. Both Redang and Lang Tengah are closed due to the monsoon. So, it was Sibu Island; which we have never heard of.
On Friday at 8.15pm, we loaded the car with two bags and off we go. The plan was pretty simple. Hit the highway all the way to Ayer Hitam and drive into Kluang. Estimated time was 2hours plus. KC had already booked a room in a hotel for the night. Next morning; after breakfast, off we go to Sibu Island.
Before reaching Pedas/Linggi; saw the signage flashing an accident near Simpang Ampat causing traffic to be slow. Near the toll, we saw the traffic at a crawl. KC decided that it's time to be adventurous. After all, we have the ipad and can google map. How lost can we get?
So off we went using the trunk road with the google map as a guide. It was a most difficult road to drive in the night with a drizzle. The road was dark, winding and narrow. I could see every bend and turn on the map before reaching and was warning KC to slow down before each bend. Finally after twisting and turning for close to 40minutes KC gave up and headed straight to the Simpang Ampat toll which wasn't jam at all.
A simple drive that takes 20 minutes ended up double its time. We reached the hotel past 11pm. Lo and behold...the hotel was a chinaman hotel (only RM55...what to expect). KC was most regretful to put me there for the night...well, of course a chinaman will look for a chinaman hotel!!! Anyway, he promised himself never to stay in such a hotel again.
