Miss Porter

Today I rewatched Miss Porter (acted by Renee Zellweger). A most delightful movie and I almost cried at one scene.

Not too sure what is fact or fiction(need to read up on her life). The movie is about Beatrix Potter and how her Peter Rabbit books were published and she became rich and famous. Of course movies have to be spiced with romance. So there is her tragic relationship with her publisher. (I wonder this is fact or fiction).

The best part for me personally is her purchase of Hilltop in the Lake District and being able to see the beautiful scenery of the lakes. It's like walking down memory lane. Such beautiful country. Beatrix Potter finally gave 4000acres to the British people as an effort to preserve the natural beauty of the lakes.

The issue is the same whether it is the victorian time or the 21st century. A unmarried woman past her 30s going through the pressure of society. The social strata of the elite and the working class and how one scrambles to find a place amongst the elite or the upper class.

Renee Zellweger potrays the role of Miss Porter beautifully. The way she carries herself, the way she talks .... is just so natural and alive.

It's not a fast moving movie and not everybody appreciates such shows. One needs to love the language to enjoy such movies.
